Disposal of Building Items

If you’re about to start a remodel or total demolition, here’s a way you can “partner” with Monterey County Habitat for Humanity and create a win – win – win program.

Effective January 1st of next year, under the Title 24 (Part 11) rules set out by the Department of Housing and Community Development, there will be several new restrictions on the amount of waste that can be generated from a building site. Here’s how we can help you work within the new regulations:

  • The local affiliate of Habitat for Humanity operates a resale store at the old Ft. Ord. In our “ReStore” we sell hundreds of donated items of all types.
  • When you’ve determined which items need to be disposed of, call us for arrangements to deliver them to our warehouse or we can pick them up.
  • Assuming these items are useable or saleable we have now eliminated a disposal problem for you.
  • The owner of the property(or the contractor) receives a tax deductible receipt from Habitat for their donation.
  • Habitat either uses the donation in new home building or sells the items which give us funds for our building projects.
  • Some one less fortunate now has a needed item at a fraction of retail pricing.
  • EVERYBODY WINS !!

Habitat will take appliances, lighting and plumbing fixtures, solid core doors, double pane windows, used cabinets, furniture – just about anything you can think of. Call us today at (831) 272-4830 and we will get back to you for pick up arrangements.
