About Us

Habitat for Humanity Monterey County is a non-profit organization dedicated to building a better community, one house at a time. Habitat seeks to make shelter for all a matter of conscience. We are one of more than 2,100 independent affiliates around the world, building houses at the grass roots level. For a complete history of Habitat, see the Habitat International site.

Mission

We build simple, decent homes for people in need. Our chapter attempts to address the need for affordable housing in Monterey County through the use of volunteer labor and donated funds and materials. Our goal is to eliminate poverty housing and homelessness from the face of the earth and make local citizens aware of and active in these goals. Internationally Habitat has now constructed more that 400,000 homes in 87 countries.

ReStore has Moved!

Save your money, neighborhood, community and the earth! Habitat ReStore is the place Monterey County homeowners can get quality construction materials at bargain prices. The Monterey County ReStore collects and sells to the public reusable construction materials, appliances, fixtures, and other household items. Funds from the ReStore support the construction of new affordable homes. Our temporary location is 840 Fir Avenue, Sand City!
