About Us

Habitat for Humanity Monterey County is a non-profit organization dedicated to building a better community, one house at a time. Habitat seeks to make shelter for all a matter of conscience.

We are one of more than 2,100 independent affiliates around the world, building houses at the grass roots level.

For a complete history of Habitat, see the Habitat International site.

Building homes, raising hope...

Habitat for Humanity Monterey County offers the dream of home ownership to those who have been priced out of the competitive real estate market. New homeowners help to build the house alongside many dedicated community volunteers. Habitat sells each house to select families at cost and finances the mortgage at zero interest.

Habitat provides capital, not charity. It creates a stable environment for children - safe and communal neighborhoods that work and grow together. Local churches, businesses, individuals, foundations, and civic organizations work together in our community to make this dream come true.

Habitat for Humanity Monterey County is an independent 501(c)(3) affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International - a non-profit, volunteer housing ministry with Christian roots. We draw together people of all faiths and backgrounds to accomplish our mission.
